Cabrini is the first Roman Catholic American saint and the founder of the Italian Catholic Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
Born into a wealthy farmer’s family, Cabrini was physically weak since childhood, but this did not stop her from devoting herself to charity. She chose to become a nun and devote herself to charity, mainly caring for the sick and the poor.
After founding the order in 1880, she went to the United States, established orphanages, missions, and hospitals, and helped Italian immigrants in Chicago for a long time. She became a U.S. citizen in 1909. She broke through the social restrictions on women, won support from all parties, and insisted on moving forward despite health warnings.
